A HOME FOR EXPRESSION. A HUB FOR CONNECTION.
We’ve found our home! Let’s get it ready, together!
Woodlawn, here we come!
We have long needed a space for classes and workshops; exhibitions and performances; festival preparation and storage; and community outreach. We are pleased to announce that we have finally found it! This vision is becoming a reality with the recent acquisition of a historic church building located in the heart of Woodlawn.
Built in 1914, the structure will be renovated and repurposed throughout 2025 and 2026 and reopened as Bare Hands Community Arts Center (BHCAC).
With the support of community partners, this strategic investment will offer a safe haven to create, exhibit, perform, learn and inspire, acting as a hub where local artists and community-based arts programming can thrive in the vibrant Woodlawn neighborhood.
But, we have our work cut out for us…
-
In order to get this space ready for the public to enjoy, we need to raise $1.5M. That is why we have recently launched a capital campaign to help us make this happen. Through corporate sponsorships, grants, individual giving and invaluable partnerships - we believe that we will call this space HOME as early as 2026.
-
We want this space to be a place we can call home for years and YEARS to come. We are taking careful precautions to ensure any and all renovations are done properly, are ADA-compliant and can be a space we are proud of.
New Beginnings Await Us!
As you can see, we have a long road ahead of us! But, we could not be more excited for this space.
We’re not only looking for in-kind or monetary donations, we are also looking for support. Every share and every connection means the world to us. We thank you for your support in advance, and we would love to answer any questions you may have.
We’d also welcome words of encouragement. Please direct any requests, comments and sweet sentiments to our Executive Director Aimee Castro at aimee.castro@barehandsinc.org.
“The purchase of this property is an exciting milestone for Bare Hands, Inc. and it demonstrates our dedication to the community.
